Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Embedded Engineering Intern to join our innovative embedded systems team at Lattice Semiconductor. This role will focus on supporting the development, testing, and optimization of solutions based on Lattice FPGA platforms. The intern will work closely with experienced engineers to contribute to real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience with FPGA design, embedded programming, and hardware-software integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in designing, implementing, and debugging FPGA-based solutions using Lattice FPGA tools (e.g., Lattice Diamond, Radiant, or Propel).
Collaborate with the team to develop and optimize VHDL or Verilog code for embedded applications.
Support the integration of FPGA designs with microcontrollers, sensors, and other embedded hardware components.
Perform simulation, synthesis, and timing analysis to ensure design reliability and performance.
Conduct testing and validation of embedded systems, documenting results and proposing improvements.
Assist in troubleshooting hardware and firmware issues under the guidance of senior engineers.
Contribute to project documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and progress reports.
Stay updated on Lattice FPGA technologies and best practices to support team efforts.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Basic understanding of FPGA development workflows (e.g., design entry, synthesis, place-and-route).
Familiarity with VHDL or Verilog for hardware description.
Experience with embedded systems programming (e.g., C/C++ for microcontrollers) is a plus.
Exposure to Lattice FPGA platforms (e.g., ECP5, iCE40, CrossLink) is highly desirable but not required.
Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Skills (Optional):
Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) or communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART).
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
What You’ll Gain:
Hands-on experience with cutting-edge Lattice FPGA technology and embedded systems.
Mentorship from experienced engineers in a dynamic, innovative environment.
Exposure to real-world applications that shape the future of programmable solutions.
Opportunities to build a portfolio of technical skills and project accomplishments.
